Multitasking

I feel like a mountain stuffed with boiling volcano trying to release itself every moment. To remain calm I strive to burst out often either in the form of paintings or a few poetic words. I call it a controlled eruption. It causes an unbearable pain inside to stop the flow of the inarticulate moments that frequent my mind. This is what has inspired me to take recourse in painting. I love playing with colours. I free my soul on a blank canvas. On the canvas I run, I jump, I sleep, I dance like a child. I love living on the canvas. I have never been to an art school, nor do I call myself a self taught artist, because art has always been there inside and I am developing my skills everyday by looking at the works of great artists and painting regularly.

I prefer Acrylic paints as I paint spontaneously and fast without a break unless a painting is complete. I prefer not to disturb the rhythm and oneness established among my soul, mind, body, colours and the canvas. I come back next day just to see if the painting requires any final touch. Moreover, Acrylic compliments my working style.

I encourage most of my subjects to pose from human figures as I am fascinated by the beautiful moving forms I see around. I get incredible satisfaction in telling my own version of the stories behind those moving subjects. Each of my paintings has a story to depict. I paint stories and poems.

I don't usually confine myself to a particular style or a subject, because every second day I have a different idea to capture or a different mood. I let my mind move freely. I dislike boundaries. I do not worry about how my paintings would look like. I just enjoy the freedom of being myself. I paint for myself, I paint what I love; I paint the subjects that animate my soul.

The subject of this painting came to my mind when I was reading the story of a rape victim in the newspaper. Here I tried to capture the helpless and 'lost everything' expression of the victim shown in the top right corner. Top left corner lady represents someone close to the victim and the two ladies below represents the society, who just gossips.

But still we live, we do our duties, we dream, we laugh and love by adjusting ourselves in the tiny space we have. Trying to place the figures tight in the canvas to portray the lack of space.
